How Long Do Honeydews Last?

Do you have honeydews at home and you’re busy wondering how long they will last, or how you should store them? Whether it’s in the fridge, freezer, or kitchen counter?.

Well if this is your case, you shouldn’t worry any longer because this article has all the answers you need.

So how long do honeydews last?

Whole honeydews will last about 5-7 days on the counter, 2-3 weeks in the fridge, and 10-12 months in the freezer. While cut ones will last 2-4 hours on the kitchen counter, 4-5 days in the fridge, and 10-12 months in the freezer.

As with other fruits, honeydews will last longer in cooler temperatures like the fridge than on the kitchen counter, plus they become more refreshing that way. However, they can do just fine on the counter if you’re planning on eating them soon enough.

Note that you should always buy fresh and healthy-looking honeydews to get them to last as long as they should.

How do you know when cantaloupes go bad?

One common way to tell that a honeydew has gone bad is by the texture and appearance. When honeydew is bad, it becomes thoroughly soft and mushy and the bruises that will appear on the skin might be uncountable.

Overripe honeydews are different from spout ones, they also get very soft and watery, they might not be so suitable for eating but they will do just fine in smoothies.

Be observant and practice food safety and hygiene because bad foods have a high risk to your health. Once you notice any sign of decay or rottenness, toss the fruit into your trash.
